Cultivos de moluscos bivalvos OceanDocs
Pascual, M.S.; Zampatti, E.A..
Bivalve culture in Argentina is beginning to develop commercially. Research was carried out at the North Patagonian gulfs (San Matias, San Jose and Nuevo)and focused three native species: the tehuelche scallop Aequipecten tehuelchus, the puelche oyster Ostrea puelchana and the common mussel Mytilus edulis platensis. Results achieved on each of these three species were different. In the case of scallops, the development of commercial aquaculture did not seem promising for many years due to the fact that production was sustained by natural populations: the dredge fishery of the San Matias Gulf and the diving fishery of the San Jose Gulf. Preliminary culture experiments dealt with larval fixation on artificial collectors and growth to commercial size on...

Forest inventory and the genetic diversity of the remaining fragment of Hymenaea courbaril L. Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Melo,Marília Freitas de Vasconcelos; Alvares-Carvalho,Sheila Valéria; Souza,Erica Moraes Santos de; Gois,Itamara Bomfim; Ferreira,Robério Anastácio; Silva-Mann,Renata.
ABSTRACT Hymenaea courbaril is a rare species in the riparian areas of the state of Sergipe, Brazil. This species is known as Brazilian cherry or Brazilian copal and it occurs in fragments of the Rainy Forest and in the transition zones between the Rainy Forest and the Caatinga Biomes. This work was carried out, in order to quantify the genetic diversity of the remaining population of Brazilian cherry, by RAPD markers. In a studied area of 100 ha in the low course of the São Francisco River, only 15 individuals were observed. The analyzed parameters were as follows: Jaccard’s genetic similarity, the number of observed alleles, the number of effective alleles, the genetic diversities of Nei, the percentages of the polymorphic loci, the genetic diversities...

Results of SFA preliminary experiments on artificial spat collection of the black pearl oyster Pinctada margaritifera OceanDocs
Bautil, B.; Boulle, D.P..
Forty oyster spat collector bags were submerged at two different sites near Mahe island fofr a period between 3.2 and 11 months. Strong currents in the south-east monsoon period resulted in a few bags lying in the sand which was detrimental to spat settlement. The mean settlement rate was calculated at 15.6 oysters per bag, however 71_310= of the bags had more than 10 oysters per bag. Considering only those bags, the settlement averaged at 27 oysters per bag. The sizes of oysters in collector bags after different soaking times, indicate that growth rate in the first few months is higher than on French Polynesia. Growth rates of oysters maintained in a cage indicated an average increase of 21.7 mm in five months, between the size of 25.9 mm and 47.76 mm....
